Off The Cliff

It will be a quick and disasterous decline.

Albert Mohler:

...Speaking to a conference sponsored by the Oxford International Biomedical Centre, Professor Gardner was ostensibly speaking as an expert on stem cell research. Indeed the conference, "New Body Parts for Old: Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine," was itself ostensibly about embryonic stem cell research. Unexpectedly, Professor Gardner pushed the discussion to the next level.

Gardner's proposal is to use kidney and liver tissues obtained from aborted fetuses in order to treat organ failure in patients. Indeed, Professor Gardner's suggestion went further. He argued that fetal organs could be transplanted into adults. Experiments in mice, he said, indicate that these organs "grow extremely quickly."

This is about as scary as the news can get. Here we confront a serious proposal to use aborted fetuses as factories for spare organs and tissues. Having commodified the human embryo and then allowing its destruction in the name of medical progress, the fetus is next in line.

Professor Stuart Campbell affirmed Gardner's proposal, adding that, if fetuses are going to be aborted, "it is a shame to waste their organs."

In other words, it is just fine to waste their lives and destroy their human dignity, but it is not fine to "waste their organs."...

Hardly seems different from the use of human embryos. Next week maybe we could use premature babies with little chance of survival. The current rate of abortion is supplying more premature babies every day, and they are sooo expensive. A public health care system cannot support futile medical care. Let's make best use of our resources...

"Medical Science Under Dictatorship"

This article from the New England Journal of Medicine, 1949, uses Nazi Germany as an explicit example of ideological purpose, the use of propaganda to bring about a shift of attitude amongst the public and the medical profession, the eventual abandonment of all previous regard for human life, the ability of some ( the Dutch) to refuse to cooperate in the degradation of their medical ethics, and some very relevant conclusions.

Some pertinent excerpts (though I recommend spending fifteen minutes to read the entire essay!):

"Science under dictatorship becomes subordinated to the guiding philosophy of the dictatorship. Irrespective of other ideologic trappings, the guiding philosophic principle of >." The recent dictatorships, including that of the Nazis, has been Hegelian in that what has been considered "rational utility" and corresponding doctrine and planning has replaced moral, ethical and religious values

" Whatever proportions these crimes finally assumed, it became evident to all who investigated them that they had started from small beginnings. The beginnings at first were merely a subtle shift in emphasis in the basic attitude of the physicians. It started with the acceptance of the attitude, basic in the euthanasia movement, that there is such a thing as life not worthy to be lived.

"It is, therefore, this subtle shift in emphasis of the physicians' attitude that one must thoroughly investigate. It is a recent significant trend in medicine, including psychiatry, to regard prevention as more important than cureObservation and recognition of early signs and symptoms have become the basis for prevention of further advance of disease.[8]

In looking for these early signs one may well retrace the early steps of propaganda on the part of the Nazis in Germany as well as in the countries that they overran and in which they attempted to gain supporters by means of indoctrination, seduction and propaganda
."

"Physicians have become dangerously close to being mere technicians of rehabilitation. This essentially Hegelian rational attitude has led them to make certain distinctions in the handling of acute and chronic diseases. The patient with the latter carries an obvious stigma as the one less likely to be fully rehabilitable for social usefulness. In an increasingly utilitarian society these patients are being looked down upon with increasing definiteness as unwanted ballast."

"Under all forms of dictatorship the dictating bodies or individuals claim that all that is done is being done for the best of the people as a whole, and that for that reason they look at health merely in terms of utility, efficiency and productivity. It is natural in such a setting that eventually Hegel's principle that "what is useful is good" wins out completely. The killing center is the reductio ad absurdum of all health planning based only on rational principles and economy and not on humane compassion and divine law. To be sure, American physicians are still far from the point of thinking of killing centers, but they have arrived at a danger point in thinking, at which likelihood of full rehabilitation is considered a factor that should determine the amount of time, effort and cost to be devoted to a particular type of patient on the part of the social body upon which this decision rests. At this point Americans should remember that the enormity of a euthanasia movement is present in their own midst.

"Dictatorships can be indeed defined as systems in which there is a prevalence of thinking in destructive rather than in ameliorative terms in dealing with social problems. The ease with which destruction of life is advocated for those considered either socially useless or socially disturbing instead of educational or ameliorative measures may be the first danger sign of loss of creative liberty in thinking, which is the hallmark of democratic society. All destructiveness ultimately leads to self-destruction; the fate of the SS and of Nazi Germany is an eloquent example. The destructive principle, once unleased, is bound to engulf the whole personality and to occupy all its relationships. Destructive urges and destructive concepts arising therefrom cannot remain limited or focused upon one subject or several subjects alone, but must inevitable spread and be directed against one's entire surrounding world, including one's own group and ultimately the self. The ameliorative point of view maintained in relation to all others is the only real means of self-preservation."

This essay makes some points very relevant to today's medical/scientific environment. How far down the road of self-destruction have we already come?

Our current President, who relegates all dissenters to the rank of 'religious ideologues', 'partisan operatives' and 'inhibitors of progress', is very adept at the use of propaganda and the use of political means to accomplish his ends.

Ends which cannot be seen as anything other than destructive of human life.

Blunt Reality Check

This guy tells it plainly enough for EVERYONE to get!

Dwayne Reaves:
Get mad if you want, I don't care.

This story on CNN is one of those stories where you just have to wonder what people actually think they are doing in the first place. A brief summary here,

1 A woman, or the government pays to have abortion
2 Doctor not present and baby comes out naturally after woman was dialated.
3 Doctor not present to smash babies head or suck it up in vacuum cleaner
4 Nurses do not know where hammer to smash babies head or forcepts to squeeze life out of it are at.
5 Baby laying there breathing after it is born.
6 Nurses throw living baby in bag and put it in dumpster.
7 Woman sues doctor and staff for killing baby, although that is what she hired them to do.

With the exception of the doctor not being there, is there any of you that actually think that something different goes on when you have an abortion? No matter how you look at it, you are taking a life. You may be able to live with it a little better because you cannot actually see these acts taking place, but they are taking place my friend.

Now I would like to know how come someone has not been charged with murder. I don't care how many times the Supreme Court say that abortion is legal, once that baby is outside a woman's body, no one has the right to take that childs life. And everyone that watched and said nothing about it should be charged with an accessory to murder...

Why (some) Doctors Don't Like God....

...He makes them look like bad guys!

Herald Sun, Aus.:

A MAN whose family was told he would die without waking has spoken his first words after almost three years in a coma.

"I am better," Ilija Marinovic told his wife, Margaret.

Mrs Marinovic said: "I didn't believe it because all the doctors said it would never happen." ...

And some of them really, really are!

....and from Canada

SoCon posts on the real reasons behind the 'dismissal' of Dr.Larry Reynolds from the Univ. of Manitoba...you guessed it, he didn't 'fit in':

....the University of Manitoba has shown its intolerance and bigotry against a renowned and experienced professor and doctor because he did not tow the politically correct pro-abortion and pro-establishment line regarding family medicine..... the University of Manitoba - or any other government supported institution for that matter - should not be engaging in some kind of veiled political witchhunt against one its distinguished professors for having the audacity to hold contrary opinions to the University’s “Academic Authority”.

The Univ. of Manitoba has been known to FAIL, as in deny a degree, to medical students who refuse to perform or refer abortions. Dr. Larry Reynolds says this about refusing to refer for abortions :
“Some have argued that this means that we are imposing our beliefs on vulnerable women. Of course, this is not the case. We are maintaining our own moral conscience in refusing to become a mere instrument of someone else’s moral decisions. If we do anything less than this, we allow ourselves to become mere objects. That same argument also promotes the idea that women are helpless victims dependent on physicians to rescue them. Women are strong independent moral beings and deserve to be treated as such, as do physicians.”

Winnipeg also was recently the centre of a controversey when the the 'Grace' hospital tried to establish itself as the arbiter of 'human value', bullying a dying man's family in an attempt to speed his demise.

Any guesses where Dr. Reynolds stands on the issue of euthanizing elderly patients?

When Is "Dead"?

NCR :

A case now before a court in Washington, D.C., involves a 12-year-old boy whose brain has stopped functioning completely, according to doctors, but whose body is being kept alive by drugs and a respirator. The boy’s Orthodox Jewish parents reject their son’s medical diagnosis of death, asserting that the teachings of their faith about the end of life should take precedence over the determination of doctors...

This reminds me of the struggle of the Golubchuk family in Winnipeg last year. The 'Grace'Hospital and the CMA fought the family for THE RIGHT to determine that Samuel Golubchuk's life was over - the EXCLUSIVE right. The Golubchuk family, also Orthodox Jews, succeeded in getting a court order to sustain life, and Mr. Golubchuk recovered somewhat before eventually dying naturally (i.e. not starving).

DO NOT GIVE DOCTORS AN INCH. The medical associations are itching to 'be the ones' that have the EXCLUSIVE RIGHT to determine a 'rubric of human value', from which NONE of us will be safe. Yesterday our unborn, today our grandfathers, tomorrow our accident victims, the next day our chronically ill, and later...people who enter the hospital but don't have really great lives.

Who Was Paid Off?

More on the HPV Scam that is endangering the health and fertility of our young girls (as young as 8) across the (STUPID) West:

For several years the pharmaceutical firm has made aggressive efforts to market the Gardasil human papilloma virus vaccine as a prevention for cervical cancer. The governor of the state of Texas made the administration of this vaccine to young girls mandatory.

What is the truth about this vaccine?

Natural News reporter Mike Adams has uncovered some interesting facts about this vaccine. The FDA has been aware since 2003 that Human Papillloma Virus [1] does not cause cervical cancer. The Gardasil vaccine is unable to eradicate HPV virus from women who have been exposed to HPV(nearly all sexually active women). This makes vaccinating all young women in Texas against HPV virus a very questionable decision....

To say the very least!!!

Singer Protege Even More Disgusting

From The GOOD Guys...

Henry Morgentaler and the Order of Canada

(Dr. Will Johnston, President of Canadian Physicians for Life)

(July 1,2008) Abortion remains the open and running sore of Canadian civic life. There is not, at present, sufficient revulsion of it among women to eradicate it, but it is not credible that the political majority which tolerates and ignores it also wants it to be honoured. And let us be clear – to honour Henry Morgentaler with the Order of Canada would be to honour abortion, for he did nothing else of note.

In fact, he was found guilty of “not holding a valid interview before an abortion, for failing almost completely to gather a case history of his client, for failing to perform the necessary pregnancy test or blood test, for not obtaining pathological examination of the 'tissues' removed and for failing to follow up the state of health of his patients afterward." Not a Nobel prize candidate.

The news that the Order of Canada might be abused in this contentious and partisan way came to me as I was cycling on an idyllic Gulf Island with my daughter. Those thousands of little daughters made into nothing by Henry Morgentaler deserved to live as much as the daughter I love so much. And as our daughter does not deserve to live just because her parents love her, so those many daughters killed by Henry Morgentaler did not deserve to die just because they were, for the moment, not loved enough.

It exhausts my overtaxed powers of indignation to see the Order of Canada miscarried in such a way. The award was meant to be a celebration of good works in which all Canada could wholeheartedly share. A career reviled by millions as spent in the service of death is the wrong subject matter for such an accolade. It will be more than unfortunate if those few entrusted with the privilege of granting our national honours persist, through loud alarms, in such a bitterly divisive mistake.

Rumor has it that the committee which chose to venerate Morgentaler failed to achieve the normally required unanimity and, if so, resorted to overriding the dissent by opting for the brute force of a majority vote. The Canadian system of honours should be a nation-unifying institution, not a focus of strife and a vulnerable target for political manipulation. If there is a sudden enthusiasm for true democracy on the topic of abortion, how about a referendum for all women to decide whether and when to protect the unborn child?

Membership in the Order of Canada can be (and has been) rescinded. In Morgentaler’s case, there would be no other way to reclaim the honour of an Order tainted by his appointment.

But there is a much better alternative. Our love for this country, and our respect for the Order of Canada, leads us to a plea that the committee walk away, while there is still time, from such a notorious decision.

Well, they went ahead and did it. On a long weekend Friday, in the wrong city, days before an election.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING CANADA? Let the Prime Minister know why he turns YOUR stomach!

Repressive Measures of Abortion Enthusiasts

I can't help but see a trend in the medical arena, towards death.

Doctors assoc. are fighting for the right to determine the 'rubric of human value', and exclusive rights to decide who is worthy of medical care. Legislators are determined that some doctors will NOT have the right to choose NOT to participate. Women are being refused the right to make informed decisions , soon perhaps they will no longer have the right to choose NOT to kill their own child. Doctors may determine before birth, that their child is not worthy. It does not seem that unlikely or far away.

Its a definite trend. Its the kind of trend that throughout history has led to the downfall of enormously successful societies.

Erin Manning:

"..Do you get this, my fellow Catholic Americans? Do you hear what they're saying, my fellow pro-life Christian Americans? Are you listening, my fellow pro-life Americans who are Jewish or Muslim or from other faiths that strongly oppose the murder of the unborn? Our deeply held, centuries-old, fervent and rooted religious beliefs are being labeled "personal agendas" by Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal. And we're being put on notice that it is unconscionable for us to expect that these beliefs will be respected and that we, especially any of us who happen to work in a medical field, have the right to refuse to participate in the murder of the unborn.

When an unjust law is passed, soon that unjust law is the only law. All other laws, all other rights, all other freedoms shrivel into nothingness; the unjust law is a Medusa's head that turns reasonable objection and the expect for that objection to be accommodated into stone.

Our right to choose not to kill unborn humans is being taken away from us. Our right to expect that among our medical professionals there are some who will not condone or participate in the killing of unborn humans is being taken away from us. Our right, if we have any connection to the medical profession--and so many Catholics and Christians and other pro-life Americans do--to refuse entirely to facilitate the murder of innocent unborn humans is being taken away from us. Soon, it will be impossible to be a doctor or a nurse or a pharmacist in the United States of America unless you are a bloodthirsty abortion enthusiast. And it is being done in the name of "Choice."

It couldn't possibly be more ironic than that, because what we're talking about is removing the right to choose. Doctors won't have the right to choose whether or not they want to kill unborn humans. Nurses won't have the right to choose whether or not they want to help in the killing of unborn humans. Other hospital workers also lose their right to choose whether or not to be associated with the abortion butchers who like to be called "Doctor" as they perform their works of unadulterated evil. Pharmacists lose the right to choose to ask someone else to fill an abortifacient "morning after" prescription. Everyone loses the right to choose life under the kind of scenario the attorneys general of a coven of states would like to see passed.

And under Barack Obama, under the Freedom of Choice Act, this scenario is exactly what we get.

Pray for America. Pray that the right to choose LIFE will remain available to all who oppose the culture of death, especially our medical professionals."

State Legislated Morality Bites

"Powerful societal elites, pandering to the public’s endless desire for pleasure, have been so successful in obtaining and retaining power that we, in Canada, now actually live in a country that for all its undoubtedly good aspects, is effectively, in the area of morality, a totalitarian state. The activities of the Human Rights Commissions are merely the latest and most blatant manifestation of that fact."

John B. Shea, 'Physicians and the Ontario Human Rights Code' - via The Great Pumpkin.

ProWomanProLife

There are plenty of good recent posts on their site, but of special interest at ProWomanProLife is a response to André Lalonde, executive vice-president of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada.

When the doctors are concerned that you don't have enough freedom to choose misery, because someone else is displaying happiness and satisfaction, it makes you wonder if there shouldn't be a minimum sanity standard for Canadian doctors...

No Room For Morality in Medicine - Huh?

CALGARY HERALD:

"It is profoundly troubling to observe something as personal as the right to live by one's conscience superceded by the collective right to medical services, which is not the least bit endangered in this instance.

There is no justification for accusing a doctor of professional misconduct for acting within the bounds of conscience. Any woman, for instance, whose doctor refuses to refer her for an abortion can turn to the Yellow Pages to find agencies willing to help her.

If the College enacts this policy, it will mean that doctors will leave Ontario, further adding to the physician shortage there, according to Saskatchewan MP Maurice Vellacott, who has introduced a private member's bill, C-537, which would amend the Criminal Code to protect health-care workers' conscience rights.

"The policy jeopardizes or blackmails doctors," says Vellacott. The College's motivation to draft the policy came, Vellacott says, not because of a complaint filed with the provincial human rights commission against a doctor, but rather as a means of pro-actively preventing such complaints.

Last week, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services put forward a regulation to protect doctors and other health-care professionals from being fired or losing their certification if they refuse to provide services that run counter to their personal beliefs.

Health and Human Services Secretary Michael Leavitt described the regulation as "protecting the right of a physician to practise medicine according to his or her moral compass." Planned Parenthood Federation of America Inc., objects to the regulation, saying it risks compromising women's ability "to manage their own health care" because of politics and ideology.

The real ideology at work is one that dictates an individual is not entitled to freedom of conscience if they do not morally support a pet liberal cause. The College should be protecting doctors' rights to live by their consciences, not aiding and abetting human rights commissions in sacrificing those rights on the altar of political correctness."
(h/t bigbluewave)

It occurs to me, that if the doctors remove 'morality' entirely from their profession by disallowing the practice of morality by their own peers, they become purely purveyors of technical skills, and should no longer be allowed the 'special' status that has afforded them an elevated place in our society. They will not warrant our trust. Ironic, that at the very moment they wish to eliminate any pretense of 'caring', they are also trying to lock themselves in as the sole arbiters of life and death, the only authority on rubrics of human value.

Its a power grab, and they are not the 'good' guys.

Go for it Ontario - the rest of us can certainly use more GOOD doctors!!

Politically Correct Healthcare

Stand Your Ground has a post on the 'human rights' crisis facing western society today:

"Secular fundamentalists can't stop complaining about Christians allegedly trying to force their religious beliefs on them. The truth however is - it's the secular fundamentalists that have been forcing their views on us.

Let me reiterate: Whatever rights and freedoms we still have left - we've inherited them from the days preceding Trudeau's "human rights" legislation. Once the so called "human rights" act had been passed and Orwellian tribunals (commonly known as "human rights" commissions) had been installed - we became second class citizens; since then our constitutional rights and freedoms have been continuously taken away to empower special interest groups. "

The expansion of the feeling of empowerment that the HRC's have, to self-monitoring civil 'authorities' of major professions, will affect greatly our access to actual health care. We will be limited to politically correct health care - a very disturbing development, especially in consideration of recent attempts by the CMAto establish itself as the final word on our most basic right - the right to LIFE.

....................................................................................
Caymanians would do well to take note of the strife in other 'civilized' countries like Canada , and take steps to protect itself from ignorantly following the same path to repressive conformity of thought and speech promoted by the secular religionists. Succumbing to the pressure of our British governors to conform to UN and EU 'standards', will affect every area of Caymanian life, and wipe out every vestige of genuine Christian culture and Caymanian spirit of independance and integrity.

THEY DON'T REALLY CARE ABOUT CAYMAN! We are only a 'trade-off' in Britian's own struggle to maintain anything remotely British within Britain itself. The 'BRAVE NEW WORLD' is on the horizon, and we're not going to like it.

Peace At Last

No thanks to the doctors at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg.

LifeNews reports that Samuel Golubchuk,at the center of a life advocacy/eugenics court battle, has died :

"Golubchuk was a terminally ill elderly patient who family said subjecting to euthanasia would violate their religious beliefs. But his doctors wanted to refuse life-sustaining treatment.

He suffered from a brain injury he sustained in 2003 but could still understand and communicate. His condition deteriorated after he had a bout of pneumonia and pulmonary hypertension.

Earlier this month, the doctor who wanted to impose his values on Golubchuk by forcing him off respirator and feeding tube resigned rather than continue treatment.

On Monday, doctors Bojan Paunovic and David Easton became the second and third to stop accepting shifts at Grace Hospital's critical care unit.

Family lawyer Neil Kravetsky told the Canadian Press that the Golubchuk family won their battle with hospital staff who wanted to take his life sooner.

'Mr. Golubchuk won,' Kravetsky said. He didn't die because they pulled him off life support. He died when his time had come.'

'No one took him off life support -- God did and that's what they were fighting for,' Kravetsky added."

I'm sure the Canadian Medical Assoc. can find another old/handicapped/brain damaged/sleeping patient in a hospital somewhere to refuse to feed and hydrate, thus establishing their exclusive right to determine the value of a life in their care.

And my friends think I'm wary of doctors out of a need to be obnoxiously 'anti-authority'. I just don't trust people who think they ARE God!

BAD Doctors

Doctors in Winnipeg are refusing to work in effort to force the death by starvation of a handicapped, responsive patient whose family opposes killing him:

"'It appears that the doctors are intentionally pressuring the system into a crisis in order for them to get their way and stop providing treatment for Samuel Golubchuk,' Mr. Schadenberg said.

He further explained: 'The legal system clearly gives the institution the advantage. Grace hospital has hired, at taxpayers' expense, the best legal team in Manitoba to represent their position while the Golubchuk family is left to their own limited resources to protect the values of their father. Clearly the system leans heavily towards supporting the hospital's agenda.'

'It is also too bad that the physicians and Grace Hospital in Winnipeg continue to refuse to respect the orthodox Jewish faith perspective of the Golubchuk family. The circumstances of this case are not common and require a special sensitivity to solve,' Mr. Schadenberg concluded.

Golubchuk's family is continuing to fight for the 84-year-old man's life, arguing that he is not in a vegetative state and that he is only receiving the most basic care of artificial nutrition and hydration. "

Note: These 'doctors' are listed as faculty at the University of Manitoba, so we have a lot to look forward to! Not only is there a shortage of doctors, but they're being taught how to kill off patients that aren't worth the space. Very efficient.

Plague of 'Best Interests'

Bobby Schindler comments on the common medical practice of starving and dehydrating handicapped patients:
Factors such as what is being taught in our medical schools, the breakdown of our health care system, the powerful influence of assisted suicide organizations, and the propaganda of our mainstream media have taken their toll.

As a result, the physically and mentally “inferior” are being denied the most basic care—food and water—in our nation’s medical facilities every day. (Thank goodness we have laws making it a felony if we do the same to an animal, although I would expect there would be a greater outcry if it were the family pets at risk.)

"Equally as disturbing is the fact that our politicians, including our two presidential candidates, ignore this issue and because of it are failing in one of the most important responsibilities they have as leaders—to protect our most vulnerable citizens.

Perhaps our general public doesn’t have a clue as to how widespread this problem is in our nation today. This ignorance is in large part because of a stealth and powerful lobby who support patient dehydration based on quality of life judgments. This has slowly but surely changed our laws regarding food and water. Nutrition and hydration through a feeding tube, once considered basic care, are now recognized as 'artificial nutrition and hydration'—and therefore a form of 'medical treatment...'"

DO NOT let anyone you love, go to hospital without your constant and vigilant 'watch'. Especially if they are elderly, unconcious, or 'handicapped'!! And even with your advocacy, they are still at risk of being detemined 'not competent to live'.

I guess doctors are vying to be the new 'deity' in the religion of secular humanism.
