Causes of deaths in Canada

.

The Interim:

On Jan. 29, the National Post ran a full-page feature article on the causes of death in Canada. Most of it was a graphic presentation, using proportionate-sized circles, showing how people died in 1967 and 2007. The National Post article stated, “Death is life’s one and only inevitable event, and it comes in many ways – officially, there are 999 causes.” However, as Interim reader and advertiser, Cambridge lawyer Paul Vandervet wrote to them in an unpublished letter to the editor, it did not include abortions. So there are 1,000 ways to die and the illustration and story did not include the number one cause of death: abortion.

The paper also stated that “Considering the way we die tells us much about the way we live." ....

Canadians like to be comfy. Sacrifice is not understood as an opportunity , but as a burden, to be avoided at all costs. Abortion saves countless (well, about 100,000 a year) Canadians from the burden of sacrificing time, physical discomfort and money, at the cost of sacrificing soul, family, peace of mind, physical well being, someone to love and A HUMAN LIFE.

Its a 'chicken and the egg' phenomenom. Which came first- the total moral and intellectual degradation of the public school system, or the total ignorance of the elements of being truly human (what separates Canadians from earwhigs)- for example USING intellect to seek TRUTH and form MORAL judgements based on REALITY? - CARING?

The pioneers would be Oh so proud! of what a wasteland Canada has become - how their efforts to establish a 'new land' have to be repeated over and over for lack of progeny to carry things forward - a lack of national will to live !

We're not multi-cultural... just perpetually seeking a culture that will stick. Right now we're working hard to have a rainbow culture which common sense dictates, will have its own troubles producing descendants. Then there is Quebec, who has a fictional culture that is really only a language on totalitarian life support ... None of which, naturally, is in the 'area of interest' of the current Prime Minister. (Why should he rock the sinking boat?)

Yeah Canada!

Happy 'Not As Many Canadians As There Should Be' Day !

As we celebrate the 143rd birthday of our beautiful country , with our families and friends, let us remember all those Canadians who never have celebrated anything in life - having been denied life - by our beautiful country.

"Annual Abortion Rates In Canada":
In 2005, the latest year on record, 96,815 abortions were performed on Canadian women. More than three million unborn babies have died from abortion in Canada since 1969, when abortion was first decriminalized. Statistics Canada tables show a recorded total of 2,822,293 abortions between 1969 and 2005. Assuming an annual average of 100,000 abortions for 2006 and 2007 (and recognizing that reported numbers since 2000 reflect about 90 percent of abortions) the total number of abortions is more than three million.

More than one million abortions (1,010,586) were performed between 1970 and 1987. In 1988, the Supreme Court of Canada struck down all remaining restrictions on abortion. Statistics Canada recorded 70,868 abortions in 1988. That number jumped 29% over the next two years to 91,476 in 1990. By 1992 it had risen to 101,726, a 44% increase in four years. Abortions continued to increase annually to a recorded high of 111, 526 in 1997—in the nine years following the Supreme Court decision, the number of abortions in Canada increased by a total of 57%....

UN Continues to Bleed Credibility

This guy isn't helping any...

In London last Friday, a high ranking United Nations (UN) jurist called on the British government to detain Pope Benedict XVI during his upcoming visit to Britain, and send him to trial in the International Criminal Court (ICC) for “crimes against humanity.”

Geoffrey Robertson touted his status as a UN judge in an article he published last week, in which he argued that jurists should invoke the same procedures that have been used to indict war criminals such as Slobodan Milosevic, to try the Pope as head of the Roman Catholic Church, who he said is ultimately responsible for sexual abuse of children by Catholic priests.

Robertson is one of five select jurists in the UN’s internal justice system responsible for holding UN officials accountable for corruption and mismanagement. His article was published in both the United States and Britain and reported on by the Associated Press...

No surprises here. The Pope is the world's strongest ally against the UN's push for universal abortion and homosexual 'special rights'. Let the ridiculousness continue. The Church and her Shepherd can take it. We have more in our corner than aspirations of global power. Our aspirations reach to Heaven.

REAL Catholics Only, Please!!!

American faux catholic group, 'Catholics' For Choice, is lobbying PM Stephen Harper to overturn a vote taken in the House of Commons last week. They say that they are representative of Canadian Catholics, including the Bishops, and that abortion SHOULD be funded by aid designated for maternal care.

Who in HELL do they think they are? (I'm pretty sure that's where they hail from...)

The Canadian branch (which has a whopping 100 members!) is no more than a field office of the anti-Catholic American group.

This statement from the Cdn.co-ordinator, pretty much says it all :
"We dissent from the formal teachings, as do most Canadian Catholics in practice."

REAL Canadian Catholics expect to hear from their REAL Catholic Bishops about this - REAL soon!!

Stupak Doesn't Lie To EVERYONE, Just To Prolifers

Here is a video of Bart Stupak discussing how he likes everything in the HealthCare Reform bill, except funding for abortion, and how at the end of the day, he would 'probably' vote for the bill.

So Pelosi had every confidence the bill would pass, because she knew Stupak was a supporter of her bill. Are we learning anything folks? Democrats are not prolife 'at the end of the day'. In the end, they are only Democrats.

I won't say that ONLY Democrats have the ability to rationalize to the point of meaning and believing nothing and everything at the same time, but they virtually have no choice. Its really and truly a necessary skill for them. (In my opinion, that same skill would make it very difficult to be Christian, much less Catholic.)

The Audacity of the Dark Soul of Deception

Anyone petitioning Saint Joseph today, best pray for this woman. She needs brains, a heart and a conscience ... before her time expires. It is a particular insult to Saint Joseph, to invoke his name in aid of an evil healthcare bill. Saint Joseph was protector of Jesus in the face of Herod (who shared Obama's disdain for the value of a human life),and he is the Patron Saint of Families. Only a person without a shred of actual faith God could do such a disgustingly cynical thing. Pray God , that American Catholics are not as stupid as she thinks they are.

Dear Ms. Pelosi,
Perhaps you aren't lying, and putting your soul recklessly in danger of eternal damnation. Perhaps you didn't realize, or hadn't read, that many mamy more Catholic Sisters have denounced your life threatening legislation, than have endorsed it. Perhaps you have not heard the voices of reality and truth that have been correcting your scandalous errors and obfuscations every step of the way. Perhaps you are not cynically underestimating the intelligence of the average American voter.
I doubt it, but just in case....

The health care bill you are proposing has been condemned by the Catholic church as being against its social teaching. With all authority, the Catholic Church has condemned your bill. No faithful Catholic can support your bill in good conscience, because the Church has condemned the evil inherent in your bill. No amount of soft soap, dropping names of well known unfaithful Catholics, or calling on the saints, will change the fact that your bill is going to force Americans to pay for abortions. (BTW, that's not the only thing against the bill...seventh commandment impels us to NOT SPEND MONEY BEYOND OUR MEANS...)

Stop your insane spiral towards Hell. Go to confession. Get a heart, a brain and a soul. (follow the yellow brick road...)

"Gendercide"

The Economist writes:
...It is no exaggeration to call this gendercide. Women are missing in their millions—aborted, killed, neglected to death...

From Times Online(2007) :
50m: number of girls that Unicef estimates are ‘missing’ from Indian society

1.05: males to every female in India, reversing the world average

600: rupees now, save 50,000 rupees later” is the advertising slogan of diagnostic teams with ultrasound machines that predict the sex of the unborn child

Neptunes Lex :
Between the two of them, China and India are raising a cohort of some hundred million men who will never know the civilizing, rooting influence of marriage...

Cheryl Cline comments:
Religion sociologist Rodney Stark has studied the link between female infanticide and the rise of the Christian church. Unfortunately gendercide is hardly a new phenomenon, as the history of pagan Rome shows. Stark believes that Christianity, which prohibits femicide, led to the collapse of pagan Rome through sheer force of numbers:

"Abortion was a huge killer of women in this period, but Christian women were spared that. And infanticide—pagans killed little girls left and right. We’ve unearthed sewers clogged with the bones of newborn girls. But Christians prohibited this. Consequently, the sex ratio changed and Christians didn’t have the enormous shortage of women that plagued the rest of the empire."
( A Double Take on Early Christianity: An Interview with Rodney Stark)

Of course, The Economist recommends implicitly state-driven solutions: “female education, anti-discrimination suits and equal-rights rulings.” South Korea has actually been educating women for decades, so that seems a moot point, and I have a surprisingly difficult time understanding how dead female fetuses and infants launch anti-discrimination and equal-rights suits. The day a magazine like The Economist calls for widespread institution of Christianity to save baby girls, or otherwise recommend that we examine politically incorrect religious trends, please let me know.

I'd like to know why its news. Really. How were people expecting the 'one-child policy' to turn out, for example? (Didn't care, as long as there were fewer Chinese?!)

Christianity alone respects women in a meaningful way, as it respects all human life. Created by God and made in His image, made sacred by the Incarnation, human life - male and female - is valuable. Because God made it so.

No-one else has as good a reason to value human life!

Euthanasia As 'Health Care'? UK PM Says 'No'; Quebec Doctors Say 'Yes'

UPDATE!!
Apparently PM Brown was less than sincere ...
Gerald Warner, a staunchly pro-life columnist for the Telegraph, is not among those who are convinced by Brown’s rhetoric in praise of palliative care and a “good death.” Warner called the guidelines “weasel-worded” and said that the facts contradict Starmer and Brown’s warm assurances.

They do indeed override Parliament and change the law, Warner said, “by radically hobbling its implementation.” Warner cited suicide-campaigner Debbie Purdie’s positive response as evidence.

“Changing the application of assisted suicide law to focus on the supposed ‘motivation’ of the perpetrator dilutes its efficacy in a way that would not be countenanced in respect of other statutory enactments.”

“Britain,” Warner wrote, “is governed by statute, not by guidelines. The will of Parliament, reaffirmed very recently, is to maintain the status quo. So, who empowered Mr. Starmer to subvert it on his own initiative? The answer is not far to seek: Gordon Brown.”

Brown’s column, he said, is written in “typical snake-oil salesman fashion.” Its purpose, he said, was to do nothing more than promote his putative pro-life credentials on the eve of a general election.

“The real purpose was to nod through a change in the law without consulting Parliament, while repudiating all responsibility,” Warner concluded.

The Society for the Protection of Unborn Children said on Thursday, “It is not credible for Keir Starmer to claim that he has not relaxed prosecuting policy on assisted suicide. The new policy effectively decriminalises assisted suicide in a wide range of circumstances.”

(ORIGINAL POST)
A very thoughtful and timely article in the Telegraph by PM Gordon Brown :

...The law – together with the values and standards of our caring professions – supports good care, including palliative care for the most difficult of conditions; and also protects the most vulnerable in our society. For let us be clear: death as an option and an entitlement, via whatever bureaucratic processes a change in the law might devise, would fundamentally change the way we think about mortality.

The risk of pressures – however subtle – on the frail and the vulnerable, who may feel their existences burdensome to others, cannot ever be entirely excluded. And the inevitable erosion of trust in the caring professions – if they were in a position to end life – would be to lose something very precious. For when I think of the kind of care Sarah and I saw in our local hospice, where we worked as volunteers, I know in my heart that there is such a thing as a good death.

And I believe it is our duty as a society to provide the skilled and loving care that makes it possible; and to use the laws we have well, rather than rush to change them.

In Canada, a Quebec MP has proposed a law to legalize euthanasia and assisted suicide, BILL C-384.

Meanwhile in 'la belle provence' DOCTORS OF QUEBEC feel that to KILL patients is appropriate care:

In fact, the difficulty that we are all coming up against is not related to possible disagreements. On the contrary, it arises mainly from the fact that legislation (which has nothing to do with treatment) can suddenly encroach on the decision making process. In effect, there are certain exceptional situations — uncontrollable pain or interminable suffering, for example — in which euthanasia could be considered to be a final step required to assure the provision of quality care. Subsequent to a careful and thorough decision making process involving all parties concerned, some treatments could be deemed appropriate even if they contravene certain legal stipulations. This could explain the fact that certain practices transpire despite being highly controversial.

Am I wrong? Are the 'doctors' saying that the law is an impediment to them using death as 'health care'? Eventhough they admit that they are already doing so?

(Get a grip on reality, boys. The law is in place to PREVENT you from making those decisions, which you admit you are currently doing. That's the purpose of the law. To prevent you from using death INSTEAD of care. Get it? )

When people are polled about whether or not they approve of assisted suicide and euthanasia, are they picturing their own miserable deaths and fearing to suffer? Are gov'ts around the world using this fear to their own economic advantage ? Is this being discussed at all because people have lost the ability to discern the value of even their own lives? Does the entire world have a death wish?

Are we really that hopeless and miserable?

“The true answer cannot be putting someone to death, however 'kindly,' but to bear witness to the love that helps us to face pain and agony in a human way. We are certain: No tear, whether it be of those who suffer or those who stand by them, goes unnoticed before God.” (Pope Benedict XVI)

Who Are the Liberals In Bed With?

Since Ignatieff so generously opened the discussion, let's see what he's supporting... this :

New undercover video footage shows the tenth Planned Parenthood abortion center across the nation engaged in covering up a potential case of sexual abuse of a minor. The video shows staff at a Wisconsin facility counseling a purportedly 14-year-old girl to not divulge how a 31-year-old man impregnated her.

The video also shows Planned Parenthood staff coaching the girl on how to obtain an abortion without her parent's consent -- in violation of Wisconsin state law....

and this :

...State authorities last night suspended the medical license of a West Philadelphia doctor whose practice was raided last week by federal drug agents.

The suspension came after a hours-long search of Kermit B. Gosnell's practice, Women's Medical Society, at 3801 Lancaster Ave. in Powelton Village.

The suspension order says the conditions of the clinic were "deplorable and unsanitary."

It states: "There was blood on the floor, and parts of aborted fetuses were displayed in jars."...

and this.

Very Progressive folks.

Euthanasia Advocates Mentally Ill?

Michael Cook at LifeIssues.Net :

...after tracking the increasingly outrageous suggestions from advocates for assisted suicide and euthanasia, I feel that jail is not the place for people like Nitschke. They belong in a straitjacket. It is becoming increasingly clear that euthanasia advocacy is an illness characterised by an unwillingness to take responsibility for one's actions, an inability to empathise with normal people, and a morbid desire to help others die. Like mad cow disease, it lies dormant for years. Its victims look normal, but eventually the spongy degeneration of the brain becomes evident....

Lemming Press : Star Phoenix, Saskatoon

The Lemming Press strikes again. The Saskatoon Star Phoenix prints an editorial void of fact (making it fiction) and gets set straight by my Dad....

To the Editor,
'The Star Phoenix'

Regarding: The Star Phoenix - February 22, 2010

You really should become more familiar with International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) before demanding more government support for its anti-life advocacy and 'ethnic cleansing' abortion policies. Are you aware, for example, that reducing births of certain ethnic groups and religions is central to the 'raison d'etre' of IPPF? Do Star Phoenix editors share such an abhorrent objective? Beware of IPPF lies covering up their bad policies and practices.

Knowing the answers to three questions may help The Star Phoenix editorials be balanced, truthful and fair. How did IPPF come into being? How is IPPF supported? What are IPPF's objectives?

Margaret Sanger, who founded IPPF, was a racially prejudiced socialite. She was instrumental in establishing IPPF as a non-government bureaucracy, with the primary objective of reducing births of certain undesirables, ie. blacks, latinos, immigrants, Catholics and the poor. She railed against these groups, calling them, "irresponsible breeders". IPPF continues to act in many ways against these same groups.

Planned Parenthood is expert at writing grants and lobbying governments for support, obtaining the majority of its funds this way. The public, however, does not support IPPF to any significant degree. Planned Parenthood operates the largest chain of 'for profit' abortuaries in USA, charging $700 to $1800 for an abortion. The larger the child, the more they charge to kill her. They rarely provide support for post-abortive problems, medical or psychological, sending victims off to local public health facilities.

To believe the lie that abortion is less harmful than birthing for women, one must accept Planned Parenthood's version of truth. The Guttmacher Institute claims to do independent research on life issues, but is actually an IPPF affiliate, designed to deceive legislators, judges and the public with their version of IPPF 'truth'. If you believe your role as editor is to perpetuate IPPF lies in support of the Canadian status quo (no protection whatsoever for the lives of unborn children), then, by all means, accept Guttmacher statistics, listen to Planned Parenthood and put aside contemporary medical and psychological research from impartial studies.

In fact, every honestly run study on the effect of abortion on women describes multiple increases in physical and mental risks vs non-abortive women. Risks increase as numbers of abortions per woman increases. The younger abortions begin, the worse are the effects on her future health. Set an objective reporter to do the research.

Where is concern for women, when IPPF fails to report abortions sought by under-aged girls being abused by older men or a relative, or young girls brought in by a pimp? IPPF simply kills the child for cash, keeping parents of under-aged girls and police in the dark. IPPF routinely sends women they damage to hospital emergency for repairs. Increasingly, however, Planned Parenthood's illegal and unethical operating policies are being brought into the light by a new generation of courageous young women. They tape interviews at IPPF and report 'sting' results to authorities, inspiring investigations and charges, ranging from fraud and assault to criminal negligence causing death. Many cases of abuse of women and girls by abortion providers are before the courts but are rarely reported by media. Maybe there's an editorial responsibility, especially for a newspaper purporting to support women, to report on cases of abuse of women by abortion providers?

'Culture Of Death' Wins Nobel Peace Prize - Yeah World!

I stopped putting much stock in the Nobel Peace Prize after it was awarded to Yasser Arafat. Today's award is in the same category of scandalous.
I realize that what might seem scandalous to me, would not necessarily scandalize a Norwegian, but there it is.
A man who was nominated before he could do anything (11 days into his presidency) and subsequently made move after move to solidify the grip of the Culture of Death on the peoples of the United States, has been awarded an international prize for 'peace'.

Not really surprising, considering the EU's and the UN's persistent push and bullying to accomplish world wide acceptance of homosexuality and abortion as 'good'.

Tiller Death

The murder of George Tiller has, in spite of the fact that his killer acted alone, encouraged a vitriolic condemnation of all who have opposed abortion and abortionists. Seems the 'culture of death' is not above using the death of one of its own as a catapult for pro-death hysteria. No doubt an increase in abortion friendly money, elections and legislation is in the future. The red-herring of 'pro-life terrorism' will be haunting us for a while.

Father Frank Pavone has some guidance for those of us who continue to insist that EVERY HUMAN LIFE IS SACRED:
The biggest danger right now to our movement, in the light of the killing of Dr. Tiller, is the enemy within. I'm talking about the fear, the self-doubt, the little voice inside of us that makes us feel guilty now for saying that abortion is murder, that might make some people feel guilty for being too aggressive in the effort to stop the killing of children, maybe make them afraid of going out in front of the abortion facilities to intervene peacefully for the lives of those children. The enemy within that would make some people believe what the other side is trying to say, that somehow we in the pro-life movement are responsible for this violence because of our violent rhetoric and because of our decades of efforts to expose the reality of what abortion is.

Because I am a believer in the loving mercy of our Lord, I am including Dr. Tiller in my prayers. If he made it to purgatory, we can use his prayers also!

'Oh my God, forgive us our sins. Save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to Heaven, especially those in most need of thy Mercy.'

Amen

"Freespeechapalooza"

Kathy Shaidle, Ezra Levant and Salim Mansur spoke at a 'free speech' event in Canada last week. A Catholic, a Jew and a Muslim explain to Canadians the dangerous restriction of freedoms being imposed by Canadian Human Rights Commissions.

Kathy Shaidle has published her entire speech on her site, and Roy Eappen has video coverage on his site.

Although this was a Canada specific event, it certainly isn't a unique problem. Human rights commissions around the world are doing their best to force 'correctness' on unruly citizens. Freedom is no longer a Western value, but a hindrance to Western governments seeking to align their legislation to conform to UN standards of 'proper belief'. That 'proper belief' would include state imposed syncretism, and total submission to the 'culture of death'. One writer at Brussels Journal concludes that we are now 'post democracy', citizens having become subjects in a 'global' construct run by 'expert elites'.

One wonders who ultimately will remain to benefit , and what the benefits will be in a soulless world of no democracy, no free speech, no children, no elderly, no families or marriage, and no faith?

Encouraging, if for no other reason than the joy of witnessing free expression, are the recent 'tea parties' in the US. Having followed this idea/event online since its inception a few months ago, I can state positively that there is a broad range of political and other 'beliefs' represented by these protesters. Something democratic has been unleashed, and the surest sign of this is the reaction of the media. (Even David Frum can't bring himself to really like the protests - not quite up to his standards of 'articulation'!)

Its going to take a lot of tea to reverse the stifling effect of the 'latte' drinkers, but is it impossible?

Not quite yet.

Americans Are Taxed To Help Planned Parenthood Profits

Planned Parenthood is not exactly a philanthropic organization. There's big money in abortion!

California Catholic Daily:
...PPFA's Annual Report shows that the group generated more than $1.038 billion in Fiscal Year 2007-2008, which is an increase of nearly two percent from the previous reporting period. In Fiscal Year 2006-2007, PPFA's budget had risen more than 11 percent over the previous fiscal year.

PPFA's income includes a hefty and ever-increasing check from American taxpayers. In Fiscal Year 2005-2006, government funding increased by nearly 10.8 percent over the previous reporting period. In Fiscal Year 2006-2007, taxpayers gave another 10.3 percent. In Fiscal Year 2007-2008, taxpayers gave nearly 3.8 percent more to Planned Parenthood, bringing the total to $349.6 million. The most recent figures show that almost 33.7 percent of PPFA's annual revenue comes from taxpayers.

"This 'not-for-profit' goliath ends every fiscal year with millions of dollars in 'excess revenue over expenses,'" Scott said, "which is known to regular people as 'profit.'" The 'excess' for 2003-2004 was $63 million. In 2004-2005, the excess was $55.8 million. In 2005-2006, the amount was a staggering $114.8 million. Planned Parenthood confesses to having an additional $85 million in "excess revenue" in its most recent report...

ALL:

...Despite a massive public relations effort to distance itself from one of its main sources of income, two new reports, including the group's annual report, show a huge increase in Planned Parenthood's abortion business.

In addition to the annual report, American Life League also released a report last month showing an increase in the number of Planned Parenthood facilities performing medical abortions.

“Planned Parenthood has increased its number of abortions to a total of 305,310 which is over 15,000 more babies than it reported to have killed in 2006,” said Marie Hahnenberg, ALL researcher. “We also learned from our 2008 Report on Planned Parenthood facilities that Planned Parenthood is focusing more on killing preborn babies through medical abortions.”

In the last two years, Planned Parenthood has increased its number of facilities offering medical abortions by 61...

'Planned Parenthood. It shouldn't mean a dead baby and a wounded mother.'

We shouldn't be paying for baby murders instead of our own children's university. Those taxes are being so cruelly and deliberately misspent. Who benefits?

Not women. Not families. Not America.

Jay Leno To Raise Funds AGAINST Pregnancy Crisis Centers

Comedian Jay Leno and his wife are to host a fundraiser for Feminist Majority Foundation, a radical abortion organization that advocates protests against and closure of pregnancy crisis centers. Mavis Leno is a member of the board of FMF, so presumably she is aware of and supports their radical stands against informing and providing a healthful choice for women, or supporting them emotionally and materially through crisis pregnancies. She therefore is expressly not for choice or for women, but FOR abortion at all costs, even at the cost to women themselves.

Not very funny.

Meanwhile, OptionLine reaches out to women pregnant or after an abortion, and helps connect them with information and crisis pregnancy centers across America. Women can find the help they need , without being pressured into a 'procedure' that may forever change their physical, mental and spiritual health.

Clearly, caring for women is not as simple as providing a ticket to murder whomever stands in the way of their immediate 'plans'. Caring for women implies providing for their health as whole persons - perhaps a concept that FMF cannot reconcile with. Afterall, where would the 'sacred cow' abortion be if women had depth of knowledge, emotion and spirituality?

UNICEF - Making Friendly Advances To Ugandan Teens

UNICEF bypasses parents to distribute book 'explaining' homosexuality to teens, through 'teen peers'. Unicef excuses the action based on UN covenants of non-discrimination. Says 'teen peers' are a commonly used 'approach' .

Welcome to the world of indoctrination to one world view. Forget Ugandan culture or moral standards. Those are not the standards of the UN! The UN must 'help' other recalcitrant nations to follow the 'internationally accepted' standards of the UN! Standards such as the 'human right' of all homosexual behaviour to be affirmed as 'normal' and desirable, or the 'human right' to be preempted as a human being by being aborted in any country in the world.

New Vision, Uganda:
...The United Nations children’s agency, UNICEF has come under sharp criticism for distributing in Uganda a teenagers’ guide book that says homosexuality is normal.

Parents complain that the book misguides the youth; ethics minister Nsaba Buturo calls it a disaster, and education ministry officials say they know nothing about it.

Fifteen thousand copies of The Teenagers Toolkit, were printed in 2002 and distributed in over 30 districts, according to UNICEF. The book, produced in collaboration with the UK-based Health Link World wide, aims at educating 15-19 year olds about their sexual and reproductive health....

...It reads: “Many people are sexually attracted to people of the same sex or attracted to both males and females. We are born with these feelings about who we like sexually, and who we do not like sexually – it is natural.”

The section adds, “It is quite normal when you are growing up to fall in love with someone of your own sex. This can happen even though you may grow up to have sexual feelings for the opposite sex, marry, and have children.”

It goes ahead to say, a peer educator can support someone who is not sure about their sexual feelings. The peer educators, says the book, can also support gay or lesbian teenagers who fear to tell others about their status. “The important thing is to be open minded and to show love and respect to all your friends.”

It is also mentioned that the only way anal sex is safe is for stopping pregnancy.

Michel Sidibe, the UNICEF representative in Uganda at the time, in the foreword, noted that the book would assist adolescent peer educators in their work of educating and influencing other young people on matters related to their health and development...

...."We parents are disgusted by these events. We feel terrible. How can our children be exposed to the gruesome mechanics of sex as expressed in this book?” asks Langa.

Langa said as a parents’ network they want to have a say in the sex education curriculum for children. “They are teaching sex education without morals. What messages are being passed on to our children? It is poison and for poison to kill, it doesn’t have to be given in large amounts.”

I'm sure this 'approach' will be a great help in Africa's fight against HIV/AIDS.

Meanwhile, 'intellectuals', politicians, and media hacks across the west, revile the 'teach abstinence as normal' approach that has proven successful in fighting AIDS - particularly in Uganda.

Those westerners must really love Africans, yes?

De-Bunking The Condom Pushers

UPDATE:Dr. Laura "The Pope ,The Rabbi, and Condoms"

Jesuit Father Michael Czerny writes , debunking the 'outrage' of the media and 'Culture of Death' advocates, concerning Pope Benedict's recent statements in Africa

Thinking Faith:

...Therefore at the public level, an aggressive condoms policy ‘increases the problem’ as it deflects attention, credibility and resources from more effective strategies like abstinence and fidelity – or in secular language, the postponement of sexual debut and a reduction in the proportion of men and women reporting multiple sexual partners. Abstinence and fidelity win little public support in dominant Western discourse, but they are vindicated by solid scientific research and are increasingly included, even favoured, in national AIDS strategies in Africa.

The promotion of condoms as the strategy for reducing HIV infection in a general population is based on statistical probability and intuitive plausibility. It enjoys considerable credibility in the Western media and among Western opinion makers. What it lacks is scientific support.

Some specialists in the prevention of HIV assume that, since vast numbers of people do not know whether or not they are infected, condom use should be automatic, mandatory and universal. Yet 95% of Africans between 15 and 49 years of age are not infected (UNAIDS 2007). Knowing your status is a crucial step towards taking responsibility for your actions. Several Africans have told me that once they tested positive, they made a firm option for abstinence, rather than risk infecting someone else.

Thus, the Bishops of Kenya:

"Even if HIV did not make pre-marital sex, fornication, adultery, abuse of minors and rape so terribly dangerous, they would still be wrong and always have been. It is not the risk of HIV or the sufferings of AIDS, which make sexual licence immoral; these are violations of the Sixth and Ninth Commandments which are sinful, and today in Kenya surely the worst of their many destructive consequences is HIV and AIDS. The Church does not teach a different sexual morality, when or where AIDS poses no danger. But this teaching is not easy for ‘the world’ including the media to understand, much less accept.[4]"

The fact is that culture counts. A condom is more than a piece of latex; it also makes a statement about the meaning of life. While in Europe and North America the idea is quite acceptable (although not to all), in Africa fertility is prized and the condom seems foreign and strange, and the values it embodies alien. A Jesuit in South Africa wrote to me, ‘Most people here think that “the Pope and condoms” is a side-show, stoked up by the media, and not an issue on which we want to spill more ink or destroy more forest.’

So when Benedict XVI affirmed that ‘the distribution of prophylactics … increase[s] the problem,’ it was not a casual remark or a gaffe; he had good grounds for saying so....

Its definitely worth reading the whole article.
Too bad that most of the people expounding on this issue cannot be bothered to find, or are so committed to their 'agenda' that they are totally unwilling to accept the truth. For most of these people, its not at all about saving African lives. Its all about protecting the 'apologetics' of their own lifestyles.
How self-centered, selfish and 'western' is that!
