CA: Proposition 4, Abortion Waiting Period and Parental Notification Initiative, aka Sarah's Law; lost in 2005 and 2006; Los Angeles Times reported November 1 was winning slightly 45% to 43%; CBS News reported November 3 was losing 46% to 40% with 7% undecided.

RESULT: FAILED (52.7% to 47.3% with 88.8% of votes counted)

CO: Amendment 48, Colorado Equal Rights Amendment, defines personhood as beginning at conception; Denver Post reported November 1 it was losing by a wide margin, "Nearly 2/3... of voters... against.... 25% supported... and 12%... undecided."

RESULT: FAILED (72% to 27%, with 86% of votes counted)

MI: Proposition 2, Stem Cell Initiative, would allow experimentation of abandoned embryos from fertility clinics; Detroit Free Press and WDIV-TV reported November 2 was winning 51% to 40%.

RESULT: APPROVED (52% to 48%, with 87% of votes counted)

SD: Initiated Measure 11, Abortion Ban Initiative, would make abortions illegal except tightly written allowances; Argus Leader reported October 26 voters were evenly split 44% to 44% with 12% undecided.

RESULT: FAILED (55% to 45% latest count with 80% of votes counted)

WA: Initiative 1000, Death with Dignity, would allow physician assisted suicide; winning handily according to all polls.

RESULT: APPROVED (58% to 42% with 48% of votes counted)
