40 Days For Life - Day 36

.
382 BABIES SAVED!

“I am a 60-year-old woman who had four abortions when I was a young woman — spiritually and emotionally lost,” she wrote.

“Since I returned to church in 1992, I have experienced Christ’s mercy and healing more powerfully than words can express. He is my treasure. He is the meaning and purpose of my life.”

She adds that she’s praying daily — and she’s fasting from coffee!

“I cry with joy for the babies saved and the minds and hearts changed,” she wrote. “May He continue to bless the babies, mothers and others through your beautiful commitment!”

US Accused of Lying To Secure Support For Gay 'Rights' Declaration

C-FAM:

In their statement in support of the “sexual orientation” declaration, the US stated that it was proud to join in support of “LGBT rights”, which the delegate likened to the struggle for democracy in parts of the world, including the Middle East. In a press release issued today, the US touted its role in securing 20 additional countries to sign onto this year’s declaration, who had not signed onto the 2008 or 2006 statements.

Which apparently they acquired by lying, through a series of meetings, to the Latin American delegates, telling them that the Vatican had changed its opposition to the declaration. US officials acknowledge they had meetings, but deny lying... they only IMPLIED that the Vatican was now in agreement.

"..they were only told that the Holy See was against violence against all individuals including those based on their sexual orientation."

Archbishop Tomasi clarifies the Vatican's actual stand :

“Human sexuality, like any voluntary activity, possesses a moral dimension,” said Archbishop Silvano Tomasi, on behalf of the Holy See. “It is an activity which puts the individual will at the service of a finality; it is not an “identity”. In other words, it comes from the action and not from the being, even though some tendencies or “sexual orientations” may have deep roots in the personality. Denying the moral dimension of sexuality leads to denying the freedom of the person in this matter, and undermines ultimately his/her ontological dignity,” said Tomasi.

UN Human rights - rights without the freedom 'to be' or the dignity 'of being' more than a body with bodily functions . A world where the human being is just a body - and only some bodies are valuable. Gays ,apparently , are somebodies - but only when 'being' gay? Perhaps you are only a 'somebody' if you are having sex. That fits with current attitudes towards the unborn, the old, sick, disabled or poor(except those having sex- they are very interested in those bodies).

UN Continues to Bleed Credibility

This guy isn't helping any...

In London last Friday, a high ranking United Nations (UN) jurist called on the British government to detain Pope Benedict XVI during his upcoming visit to Britain, and send him to trial in the International Criminal Court (ICC) for “crimes against humanity.”

Geoffrey Robertson touted his status as a UN judge in an article he published last week, in which he argued that jurists should invoke the same procedures that have been used to indict war criminals such as Slobodan Milosevic, to try the Pope as head of the Roman Catholic Church, who he said is ultimately responsible for sexual abuse of children by Catholic priests.

Robertson is one of five select jurists in the UN’s internal justice system responsible for holding UN officials accountable for corruption and mismanagement. His article was published in both the United States and Britain and reported on by the Associated Press...

No surprises here. The Pope is the world's strongest ally against the UN's push for universal abortion and homosexual 'special rights'. Let the ridiculousness continue. The Church and her Shepherd can take it. We have more in our corner than aspirations of global power. Our aspirations reach to Heaven.

UN Resolution To Outlaw 'Hate' Speech

A resolution, co-sponsored by the US and approved by the UN Human Rights Council, asks for the criminalization of 'hate' speech:

EuropeNews:
the resolution, cosponsored by the U.S. and Egypt, calls on states to condemn and criminalize “any advocacy of national, racial or religious hatred that constitutes incitement to discrimination, hostility or violence.”

Sound familiar? Perhaps that's what Jennifer Lynch has been up to, and why she refuses to back down from her untenable position of excusing the abuse rampant in the CHRC she is responsible for.

Good work, Canada.

Meanwhile, in other 'spread the grief' news, Cardinal Antonelli speaks bluntly about the bucket of woe dumping on Africa, courtesy agencies our tax dollars support, and our politicians, media, and educators laud:
The agents of various international institutions and organizations start from real problems, which must be dutifully resolved, such as the injustice and violence suffered by women, infant mortality, malnutrition and famine, problems related to housing and work. They propose solutions based on the values of equality, health and liberty: sacrosanct concepts, but rendered ambiguous by the new anthropological meanings that are given to them. For example, equality of people no longer just means equal dignity and access to fundamental human rights; but also the irrelevance of the natural differences between men and women, the uniformity of all individuals, as though they were sexually undifferentiated, and therefore the equality of all sexual orientations and behavior: heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, transsexual, polymorphous.....
....This ideology is spread by reproductive health centers, local educational meetings and international TV programs broadcast via satellite. Collaboration of African governments and local groups, including ecclesial groups, is sought, and these groups usually don’t realize the ethically unacceptable anthropological implications of this.

Implications of which can be seen clearly in the disintergration of the family and the eroding of the value of a human life in Western society.

The constant push for homosexuality and abortion to be accepted as 'norms' and 'good', would be a lot easier for the UN if in every country it was illegal to speak up against them, wouldn't it.

The US already has the wheels in motion...

'Culture Of Death' Wins Nobel Peace Prize - Yeah World!

I stopped putting much stock in the Nobel Peace Prize after it was awarded to Yasser Arafat. Today's award is in the same category of scandalous.
I realize that what might seem scandalous to me, would not necessarily scandalize a Norwegian, but there it is.
A man who was nominated before he could do anything (11 days into his presidency) and subsequently made move after move to solidify the grip of the Culture of Death on the peoples of the United States, has been awarded an international prize for 'peace'.

Not really surprising, considering the EU's and the UN's persistent push and bullying to accomplish world wide acceptance of homosexuality and abortion as 'good'.

Yeah World!

"Freespeechapalooza"

Kathy Shaidle, Ezra Levant and Salim Mansur spoke at a 'free speech' event in Canada last week. A Catholic, a Jew and a Muslim explain to Canadians the dangerous restriction of freedoms being imposed by Canadian Human Rights Commissions.

Kathy Shaidle has published her entire speech on her site, and Roy Eappen has video coverage on his site.

Although this was a Canada specific event, it certainly isn't a unique problem. Human rights commissions around the world are doing their best to force 'correctness' on unruly citizens. Freedom is no longer a Western value, but a hindrance to Western governments seeking to align their legislation to conform to UN standards of 'proper belief'. That 'proper belief' would include state imposed syncretism, and total submission to the 'culture of death'. One writer at Brussels Journal concludes that we are now 'post democracy', citizens having become subjects in a 'global' construct run by 'expert elites'.

One wonders who ultimately will remain to benefit , and what the benefits will be in a soulless world of no democracy, no free speech, no children, no elderly, no families or marriage, and no faith?

Encouraging, if for no other reason than the joy of witnessing free expression, are the recent 'tea parties' in the US. Having followed this idea/event online since its inception a few months ago, I can state positively that there is a broad range of political and other 'beliefs' represented by these protesters. Something democratic has been unleashed, and the surest sign of this is the reaction of the media. (Even David Frum can't bring himself to really like the protests - not quite up to his standards of 'articulation'!)

Its going to take a lot of tea to reverse the stifling effect of the 'latte' drinkers, but is it impossible?

Not quite yet.

UNICEF - Making Friendly Advances To Ugandan Teens

UNICEF bypasses parents to distribute book 'explaining' homosexuality to teens, through 'teen peers'. Unicef excuses the action based on UN covenants of non-discrimination. Says 'teen peers' are a commonly used 'approach' .

Welcome to the world of indoctrination to one world view. Forget Ugandan culture or moral standards. Those are not the standards of the UN! The UN must 'help' other recalcitrant nations to follow the 'internationally accepted' standards of the UN! Standards such as the 'human right' of all homosexual behaviour to be affirmed as 'normal' and desirable, or the 'human right' to be preempted as a human being by being aborted in any country in the world.

New Vision, Uganda:
...The United Nations children’s agency, UNICEF has come under sharp criticism for distributing in Uganda a teenagers’ guide book that says homosexuality is normal.

Parents complain that the book misguides the youth; ethics minister Nsaba Buturo calls it a disaster, and education ministry officials say they know nothing about it.

Fifteen thousand copies of The Teenagers Toolkit, were printed in 2002 and distributed in over 30 districts, according to UNICEF. The book, produced in collaboration with the UK-based Health Link World wide, aims at educating 15-19 year olds about their sexual and reproductive health....

...It reads: “Many people are sexually attracted to people of the same sex or attracted to both males and females. We are born with these feelings about who we like sexually, and who we do not like sexually – it is natural.”

The section adds, “It is quite normal when you are growing up to fall in love with someone of your own sex. This can happen even though you may grow up to have sexual feelings for the opposite sex, marry, and have children.”

It goes ahead to say, a peer educator can support someone who is not sure about their sexual feelings. The peer educators, says the book, can also support gay or lesbian teenagers who fear to tell others about their status. “The important thing is to be open minded and to show love and respect to all your friends.”

It is also mentioned that the only way anal sex is safe is for stopping pregnancy.

Michel Sidibe, the UNICEF representative in Uganda at the time, in the foreword, noted that the book would assist adolescent peer educators in their work of educating and influencing other young people on matters related to their health and development...

...."We parents are disgusted by these events. We feel terrible. How can our children be exposed to the gruesome mechanics of sex as expressed in this book?” asks Langa.

Langa said as a parents’ network they want to have a say in the sex education curriculum for children. “They are teaching sex education without morals. What messages are being passed on to our children? It is poison and for poison to kill, it doesn’t have to be given in large amounts.”

I'm sure this 'approach' will be a great help in Africa's fight against HIV/AIDS.

Meanwhile, 'intellectuals', politicians, and media hacks across the west, revile the 'teach abstinence as normal' approach that has proven successful in fighting AIDS - particularly in Uganda.

Those westerners must really love Africans, yes?

UN and Human Rights - A New Dictionary Please!

While the UN is very busy pushing a worldwide acceptance of abortion as a basic 'human right', and the 'human right' of homosexuals to be affirmed in their behaviour by every world citizen, they don't seem too concerned about anti-semitism. What the heck does 'human rights' even mean anymore!!

NRO:

Kicking Israel Around [Anne Bayefsky]

Here is a window on the dirty game of U.N. politics that is laughably called “human rights.” The scene is the U.N.’s Palais des Nations, in Geneva, where negotiations are taking place over the final document to be adopted formally at Durban II, the U.N.’s “anti-racism” conference that begins on April 20. President Obama is desperate to avoid offending anybody who is not American, particularly Islamic states, so American officials remain tight-lipped about whether they will participate in Durban II or not. While Americans observe the planning sessions from the sidelines, this is what is happening in the pit.

The first issue discussed today was the central one for American participation. Israel was the only nation criticized by name in the 2001 Durban Declaration, which asserts that Palestinians are victims of Israeli racism. Although the Obama administration stated last month that it would not agree to “reaffirm the Durban Declaration in toto,” paragraph number 1 of the working draft of this year’s declaration “reaffirms the 2001 Durban Declaration as it was adopted.”

Today the European Union indicated that it is satisfied with this language and has no intention of proposing any modification that would bring the Americans onboard. Suggestions had been floating around to reaffirm only “the core provisions from 2001,” or to insert an explanatory footnote with reservations. None of this materialized. It turns out that the EU’s “who gives a damn about the U.S.” position is part of a deal struck with Islamic extremists. As long as the EU reaffirms the denunciation of Israeli racism in Durban I, Islamic states will refrain from introducing more racist-Israel language into Durban II. That’s how the EU does business: Forget the principle — just keep the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) happy.

The EU position should spell the end of Obama’s fence-sitting. The game is up; alleged Israeli racism is going to be “reaffirmed,” since not one country is prepared to oppose it.

Meanwhile, the idea of denouncing anti-semitism remains controversial. In this global proclamation about intolerance, there is only one draft paragraph among 141 that briefly mentions “anti-semitism,” and today the South Africans indicated they had problems with that paragraph. The Russian chair of the proceedings announced that he was delaying consideration of the subject and moving its discussion to an unrelated debate over paragraphs concerning freedom of expression.

What’s behind all this? The OIC countries are locked in a struggle with EU states over the ability to stifle free speech (such as “defaming” Islam) in the name of protecting religion. The Russian move helps the OIC nations by letting them use the anti-semitism clause as a bargaining chip, to be played in exchange for the EU’s allowing free-speech restrictions. In a related issue, the Danish are unhappy with the mention of something the U.N. invented called “anti-Arabism.” That phrase has been inserted in the paragraph about discrimination in the form of Islamophobia, Christianophobia and anti-semitism. But the rest of the EU has told the Danes to get lost, on the grounds that if the EU proposes deleting anti-Arabism, the OIC will insist on deleting anti-semitism. As EU officials explain to observers, “We want to show restraint.”

Restraint of course, is a one-way street at the U.N. So the Syrians duly proposed adding a denunciation of “foreign occupation” — a.k.a. Israel. Not one country objected to the Syrian proposal — not even Australia, which until now had not been intimidated by the anti-Israel and anti-democratic forces. According to U.N. rules, this means the proposed language will be added into the draft in “square brackets,” indicating that it is firmly in the mix for the purposes of future deal-making. Syria also said, “later on we will propose further amendments.”

Watching the U.N. conduct the business of human rights is revealing. It teaches us how negotiations between fascists and democrats proceed. Democrats “show restraint,” while fascists don’t care who they offend or what they say. And more often than not, Jews and the Jewish state are the political football. The farthest thing from this playing field is true concern over the protection of human rights.

— Anne Bayefsky is a senior fellow with the Hudson Institute and at Touro College, New York.

Meanwhile in Canada, the difference between a conservative approach to human rights and a liberal approach is the difference bewteen Canada's non-participation in Dubai under conservative PM Stephen Harper, and PM Paul Martin's (liberal) support of Tamil Tigers.

If only such a difference was obvious on Canadian soil, regarding human rights in Canada! Perhaps that's 'not an area of interest'.

GO SPAIN!

Many thousands protest the governments proposal to allow girls as young as 16 to acquire abortions without parental permission

Spero News:

...Thousands of protesterss made themselves heard in some 80 cities throughout Spain, while in Madrid they filled the streets around the Congress. “This is only the beginning,” said Arsuaga of Hazteoir.org. A manifesto read at the Madrid rally proclaimed that the movement of over 100 civic groups is demanding “a true plan of support for pregnant women so that they can give birth to their children and as a last resort, if necessary, give them up for adoption.”...

As the US strives to make itself conform to the EU/UN philosophy of 'reduce the poor by killing their children', Europeans are beginning to fight back. All is not as 'homogenous' as the 'Culture of Death' media would have us believe. Afterall, we ARE human!

Stephen Lewis - UN Abortion Czar - Proud Canadian

If he hadn't already received an 'Order of Canada' , surely all the great work he's done promoting an increase of abortions worldwide, would qualify him!

LifeSiteNews:

....Lewis, the former UN Special Envoy for HIV/AIDS in Africa and a former Deputy Director of UNICEF, has long been a vociferous supporter of the creation of a “fully-resourced” women’s agency. Such an agency could change the UN and end the “suffocating patriarchy” with a new “sensibility of collaboration.” Lewis continued that this, “would not only help women but rescue the UN from some of its worst behavior.”

One audience member questioned the necessity of a new billion dollar agency. There are already several UN bodies which focus on issues affecting women, including the UN Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM), the UN Population Fund (UNFPA), Division for the Advancement of Women (DAW), Office of the Special Adviser on Gender Issues (OSAGI) and the International Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women (INSTRAW). Lewis said, “Rendering little agencies is not enough. There is not enough staff, not enough resources and no mandate.” He viewed the proposed agency as the UN’s “one last chance” to advocate for women multilaterally the way UNICEF does for children with a staff and budget to match.

It was during Mr. Lewis’ stint at UNICEF that the Vatican decided to withdraw its annual symbolic donation because of mounting evidence that the agency was promoting abortion. Critics fear that a new agency would not advocate for women but for certain ideologies espoused by those in charge, particularly for a universal right to abortion....

Lewis was speaking at a forum hosted by the Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs . I wonder who's 'ethics' those might be?
The past several years, under the leadership of radical nihilists like Lewis, the UN has been pressuring all countries to provide open access to abortion, and to accept homosexuality as a normal lifestyle. The EU and Canada are far, far down this road already. They are especially anxious for the less developed and the under-developed (poor) countries to drastically limit their populations, as their own populations continue to dwindle and age.

Wake Up Canadians. Stop seeing as 'heroes' the very people who have despoiled the innocence of your young country. Stop sending your kids out to gather funds that support evil abroad. Stop keeping yourself so busy with leisure sports and artsy endeavors that you can pretend everything is great. Worthwhile activities no doubt, for the rich and comfortable - but you should care that you are supporting the ending of life for people in other countries.

You
should care.

Vatican Not Persuaded To Sign Ambiguous UN Convention

Although many people around the world assume that initiatives of the UN are always with the good of mankind at heart, increasingly the UN has been pushing vigorously the mandate of the 'Culture of Death'.

ZENIT
...The Holy See will not lend its support to U.N. conventions that hide a defense of abortion and same-sex marriage under a cover of legitimate rights, explained a Holy See representative....

...In regard to the convention on persons with disabilities the prelate said that "while recognizing the importance and urgency of putting many of its aspects into practice, the Holy See abstains from signing it because the text lends support to abortion as a form of so-called reproductive health."

The Holy See delegation worked to bring the convention in line with a true defense of human rights, he said, but without success.

In the negotiation phase, the delegation pointed to the ambiguity of the wording, asking "not that it be deleted but made precise once and for all so that it would exclude abortion from among the possibilities of its interpretation," Archbishop Migliore noted....

... "In dealing with rights that have to do with life and the conduct of persons, communities and peoples," he observed, "discernment foresees that we must ask every time whether demands for the recognition of new rights promote a true good for all and what the relationship is to other rights and with each person's responsibility."...

We need to keep ourselves informed about what is going on in our name. The UN is NOT government. Our governments give the UN its mandate. The end to the 'Culture of Death' starts at home!

What's In It For Morales?

Watching the Bolivian President 'ratchet up' the tension between the government and the Church, one wonders about the underlying motivation. Relationships between government and Church have historically been tenuous. Why the increase in hostility?

I think it's the company Morales is keeping. He wants to institute repressive measures that increase his power and diminish the voice of the people. This will allow him a free reign to institute new laws which the people would object to....for example, those promoting homosexuality and abortion.( Any guesses where that idea comes from? THE UN!!) What is he getting out of this betrayal of the people? POWER AND MONEY. Unfortunately for him, the Catholic Church insists on continuously pointing out what he's up to, and what the Catholic Church's moral teachings are, just as they did with previous governments. Funny how similarly repressive gov't from the far left and gov't from the far right are. I guess if the main goal is POWER AND MONEY, repression is a given! Fronts for the spread of communism like the 'World Social Forum' are seeing the current economic crisis as an opportunity to gain power throughout South America. They would have an easier time, if they could just shut up those darn Bishops!

Evo Morales sees the Church as a major impediment to the reforms he seeks to institute. (Not the promised land reforms that got him elected...the undemocratic 'repress opposition' and the immoral 'kill off the poor' reforms.)So much so, that he is calling for the 'institution' of a new 'church'. (Sounds a lot like communist China, doesn't it?)

This must be quite a problem for the President of the United States. He personally believes in homosexuality and abortion . He wants to be everybody's friend. Yet, it's obvious that the South American countries flirting with communism are not governed by democracy loving men. How to control the outcome without interfering? How to protect the UN mission to reduce the populations of poor people worldwide through abortion and homosexuality, without increasing the power of uncomfortably close neighbours who are tyrants that hate the US?

Tough one.

Good News - Cameroon Stands Up Against UN Abortion Coercion

By Samantha Singson

NEW YORK, January 15, 2009 (C-FAM)

The committee that monitors state compliance with the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) will begin a new session in Geneva next week, but even prior to the meeting six of the eight states who will be reviewed have already been questioned on abortion. In a stinging written response to the CEDAW committee’s advance questions, Cameroon fired back that “abortion is murder.”

CEDAW does not mention abortion, but the committee has courted controversy for years by pressuring over 65 countries to liberalize their abortion laws. In a written communication to the Cameroon government, the CEDAW committee asked the government to account for how they have implemented CEDAW’s previous recommendations to “review the abortion law and increase access to, and availability of, contraception.”

The government of Cameroon provided a lengthy written answer to the question and repudiated the tendency to “elevate” abortion to “the rank of a right and dignity.” Cameroon continued that abortion “is portrayed as a freedom without mentioning that the mother exercises this freedom to the detriment of the child’s.”

The Cameroon response lists the risks associated with abortion, including death, intestinal aspiration, hemorrhaging, infection, sterility, ectopic pregnancy, future miscarriage, perforation of the uterus and distress. Cameroon warned that new ideologies and scientific and technical progress “must not lead to an erosion in basic values.”

Cameroon emphasized the traditional African philosophy that “recognizes the permanent bond that links societies and families to their ancestors” and how children are a “bridge between generations past and present, while representing future prospects for communities.” Therefore, any abortion performed for any reason “other than to save the life of the mother or child, impedes the expression of this vital social dynamic.”

Cameroon also reminded the CEDAW committee of an aspect it feels is overlooked – “the tremendous joy that the possibility of having a child brings to women, as well as to men and families.” Cameroon asks the members of the committee to “Think for a moment of the anguish felt by the many couples who do not have children; think of the thousands of women and men who, in spite of their comfortable material existence, desperately want a child, even if it means adopting just one child.”

While the recommendations of the CEDAW committee are non-binding, abortion activists have brought litigation in various countries citing human rights treaty bodies, like the CEDAW Committee, in challenging laws against abortion. Such arguments helped convince the Colombian constitutional court to liberalize that country’s restrictions on the practice.

CEDAW critics will be watching the next session closely to monitor the performance of several newly elected committee members such as Violet Tsisiga Awori of Kenya and Barbara Evelyn Bailey of Jamaica, who were high-ranking members of non-government organizations that advocated for abortion rights in their respective regions.
Along with Cameroon, the CEDAW Committee will also be reviewing the country reports of Armenia, Dominica, Germany, Guatemala, Haiti, Libya and Rwanda.

Due Credit

Kudos to the Canadian government for their stand at the UN.

Lorne Gunter
...On Monday, Canada stood alone at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in opposing a motion that would have condemned Israel -- and not Hamas -- for the current Gaza conflict.

Thirty-three nations voted for the resolution, 13 nations, mostly Western, abstained. Only one nation-- Canada--had the courage to vote "nay."...

I'm praying for the day that courage shows up at home.

Global Warming Turning Sour

More UN scientists refute the hype of the Global Warming religionists, than originally signed on:US Senate Report informs that over 650 scientists (up from last year's 450) are refuting the questionable science that has been pushed (and eagerly taught in public schools) around the world:

A hint of what the upcoming Senate report contains:

“I am a skeptic…Global warming has become a new religion.” - Nobel Prize Winner for Physics, Ivar Giaever.

“Since I am no longer affiliated with any organization nor receiving any funding, I can speak quite frankly….As a scientist I remain skeptical.” - Atmospheric Scientist Dr. Joanne Simpson, the first woman in the world to receive a PhD in meteorology and formerly of NASA who has authored more than 190 studies and has been called “among the most preeminent scientists of the last 100 years.”

Warming fears are the “worst scientific scandal in the history…When people come to know what the truth is, they will feel deceived by science and scientists.” - UN IPCC Japanese Scientist Dr. Kiminori Itoh, an award-winning PhD environmental physical chemist.

“The IPCC has actually become a closed circuit; it doesn’t listen to others. It doesn’t have open minds… I am really amazed that the Nobel Peace Prize has been given on scientifically incorrect conclusions by people who are not geologists,” - Indian geologist Dr. Arun D. Ahluwalia at Punjab University and a board member of the UN-supported International Year of the Planet.

“The models and forecasts of the UN IPCC "are incorrect because they only are based on mathematical models and presented results at scenarios that do not include, for example, solar activity.” - Victor Manuel Velasco Herrera, a researcher at the Institute of Geophysics of the National Autonomous University of Mexico

“It is a blatant lie put forth in the media that makes it seem there is only a fringe of scientists who don’t buy into anthropogenic global warming.” - U.S Government Atmospheric Scientist Stanley B. Goldenberg of the Hurricane Research Division of NOAA.

“Even doubling or tripling the amount of carbon dioxide will virtually have little impact, as water vapour and water condensed on particles as clouds dominate the worldwide scene and always will.” – . Geoffrey G. Duffy, a professor in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering of the University of Auckland, NZ.

“After reading [UN IPCC chairman] Pachauri's asinine comment [comparing skeptics to] Flat Earthers, it's hard to remain quiet.” - Climate statistician Dr. William M. Briggs, who specializes in the statistics of forecast evaluation, serves on the American Meteorological Society's Probability and Statistics Committee and is an Associate Editor of Monthly Weather Review.

“For how many years must the planet cool before we begin to understand that the planet is not warming? For how many years must cooling go on?" - Geologist Dr. David Gee the chairman of the science committee of the 2008 International Geological Congress who has authored 130 plus peer reviewed papers, and is currently at Uppsala University in Sweden.

“Gore prompted me to start delving into the science again and I quickly found myself solidly in the skeptic camp…Climate models can at best be useful for explaining climate changes after the fact.” - Meteorologist Hajo Smit of Holland, who reversed his belief in man-made warming to become a skeptic, is a former member of the Dutch UN IPCC committee.

I just want to add that I am constantly being annoyed by 'scientific' articles in our local paper, and gov't 'politically correct' decisions being made, based on this ****. Does Cayman always have to be two steps behind the rest of the world? By the time we catch up to the de-bunking of global warming, how much will we have given away? Responsible custody of our earth - YES! Fanatical caving to every passing popular myth - emphatically NO!

United Church in Jamaica Supports Legal Abortion

In a disappointing move, the United Church in Jamaica and The Cayman Islands has decided to support the law to legalize abortion .

Jamaica Gleaner:
"What we are pointing out is that all Christians do not have the same view. We have, for example, a difference even on the question of contraception. The Roman Catholics do not sanction contraception, we do," said Lewis.

She said her church had no problem with abortion in instances where a woman was raped or where incest was committed.

The reverend also said there was not a problem in a case where medical opinion pointed to severe disability and where the potential mother or child was at risk.

However, Lewis argued that unwanted pregnancies should be avoided and abstinence should be considered and pursued.

She also encouraged the responsible use of contraceptives.

Attempting to strike a compromise, the church leader said the society should raise the debate to another level.

Lewis said it might be justified that a pro-life stance does not prevent one from embracing the concept of pro-choice.

While supporting the draft legislation to legalise abortion, she called for two amendments to the bill.

Under Section Five of the legislation, dealing with 'termination of pregnancy in special categories', the church group wants an amendment to indicate that parents' consent was not necessary in all cases for minors over the age of 16 years. This, however, should be subject to professional counselling.

The church group also wants the bill to be modified to allow for the training of other persons for counselling, such as members of the clergy, who do not oppose abortion.

Hilary Nicholson, head of Women's Media Watch, said it was unfortunate that the ongoing debate on abortion had attracted the labels pro-life and pro-abortion.

She said her organisation was pro-choice and pro-life...

There IS NO SUCH COMMON GROUND between 'pro-life' and 'pro-abortion'. Either you agree that LIFE is sacred, and inherently valuable, worthy of protection, or you don't. The United Church has decided that LIFE is not sacred. They are pro-abortion.

That the 'Women's Media Watch' is suggesting that there are people more interested in a young girl's welfare than her parents, is indicative of a UN approach to women's health. One might be suspicious, considering the world wide effort expended by the UN the last couple of years, to provide open access to abortion everywhere. Have incentives been offered to groups supporting abortion in Jamaica?

God help Jamaica if they seek to end the despair in their country by putting all the responsibility on pregnant women. Fathers are shirking already. As any western country can testify, abortion access DECREASES paternal interest. Killing black Jamaican babies will not help Jamaica repair the damamge to their once lovng and caring society.

RESPECT FOR LIFE is needed desperately in Jamaica. Those advocating abortion are not caring for women. They are not caring for children. They do not care for THE CREATOR< or honour HIM as Lord.

WHO DO THEY CARE FOR?

Petition The UN to Respect Life

Ephemeris:

"The UN will celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights this December 10th.

To celebrate this occasion, radical pro-abortion groups intend to present the UN General Assembly with petitions calling for a universal right to abortion.

Campaigns are being waged right now by International Planned Parenthood Federation and Marie Stopes International, the two groups responsible for more abortions than any other groups in the world. Both are beloved of the powers that be at the UN; and their efforts to promote an international right to abortion are welcomed by many UN Member States, perhaps most of the UN bureaucracy, and powerful US foundations that give millions to promote abortion at the UN and around the world.

Below is a petition calling on UN Members States to interpret the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as protecting the unborn child from abortion. Please consider signing the petition and passing it on to others to sign as well."

International Call for the Rights and Dignity of the Human Person and the Family

We, the citizens of UN member states, in this year of the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted and proclaimed by the UN General Assembly resolution 217 A (III) of 10 December 1948,

Recalling that:

The Universal Declaration is a common standard of achievement for all peoples and all Nations,

Bearing in mind that:

Human rights, dignity, freedom, equality, solidarity and justice constitute the spiritual and moral patrimony on which the union of Nations is based,

Stress that:

Proper consideration must be given to

1. The right to life of every human being, from conception to natural death, each child having the right to be conceived, born and educated within the family, based on marriage between a woman and a man, the family being the natural and fundamental group unit of society,

2. The right of every child to be educated by his or her parents, who have a prior and fundamental right to choose the kind of education that shall be given to their children.

Therefore, we call upon:

All governments to interpret the Universal Declaration of Human Rights properly such that:

Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person (Article 3)

Men and women of full age, without any limitation due to race, nationality or religion, have the right to marry and to found a family (Article 16).

The family is the natural and fundamental group unit of society and is entitled to protection by society and the State (Article 16).

Motherhood and childhood are entitled to special care and assistance (Article 25).

Parents have a prior right to choose the kind of education that shall be given to their children (Article 26).

"They would like to get 50 000 names by December 10th, the 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

You can be certain on that day, pro-abortion advocates will be pushing for the right to kill the unborn. Our voice must be present and heard. Please contribute to the effort by signing your name.

Please reproduce this request on your blogs. I know there's a lot going on right now with elections in the US and Canada, but this is very important, and it takes so little to help."

UN Called On Carpet For Pushing Ideology

LifeSiteNews:

"...A resolution was introduced in the United States House of Representatives this week condemning two United Nations committees. The non-binding resolution was introduced by Republican Thad McCotter (R-MI) and specifically condemns actions taken by the Human Rights Committee (HRC) and the Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).

The resolution singles out these two committees for reinterpreting hard-law treaties to include a right to abortion and trying to force sovereign states who have ratified the treaties into accepting these new interpretations..."

This is not 'new'. Its been an ongoing manipulative campaign by the more powerful, over the less powerful, to accomplish their 'not really hidden' agenda to make all nations homosexual and abortion 'friendly' . The Culture of Death reigns Supreme at the UN. (Maybe Europeans are sooo insecure they have to make sure nobody else is having children either...)

The UN Is Good For What?

Please remind me. It seems I can only think of their absurdly inhuman attitudes toward mankind and their propensity to bully vulnerable nations into inhumane practices.

Yet another example of their decreptitude is posted in LifesiteNews:

"At United Nations headquarters last week, UN Population Fund (UNFPA) executive director Thoraya Obaid called for more funding for population programs, including reducing fertility, promoting “reproductive health services,” and “de-stigmatizing” sodomy..."

Coupled with example after example of financial corruption and intellectual fraud, the UN is an insult to taxpayers world-wide. Membership does not seem justified.
