On the Michael Coren Show. Not really a fair match-up!
Pictures of Muhammed 'vilify Muslims' (Calver). That sounds rather insulting! Have the Muslim community filed their HRC suit against Ms. Calver yet?

The Finer Points of the Betrayal
Ezra Levant fills us in...
....I was just watching Mike Duffy Live on CTV, and learned that Pauline Marois, the leader of the provincial Parti Quebecois -- the sister party to the separatist Bloc Quebecois -- announced that part of Gilles Duceppe's price for supporting the coalition is an immediate $1 billion transfer to Quebec.
No doubt that news wasn't supposed to leak out until after the dirty deal was done -- Marois needed a boost in her provincial election and so she stole Duceppe's thunder. But surely the only surprising thing about this is that the dollar amount is so low. Surely the Bloc wouldn't agree, in advance, to support two budgets they haven't even seen yet, and to support the coalition in any non-confidence vote.
But on the same show, we learned of other coming pay-offs: separatist appointments to the Senate. There are 18 vacancies in the Senate, including four in Quebec. Not only are the Bloc in for patronage pay-offs, but Elizabeth May, the Green Party leader, was on Parliament Hill today, and she wouldn't deny that she, too, was offered a Senate seat.
It's a fire sale in Ottawa! Senate seats, billions of dollars, whatever you want -- just make Stephane Dion the prime minister!
Fire sale -- or looting, I'm not sure.....

Media Lawyers' Assoc.. Conference
Ezra Levant makes opening remarks (refering to CHRC track record):
I hope Mr. Levant wasn't the only voice of reason.
.
...That’s not law. That’s corrupt, that’s abusive, that’s un-Canadian.
It’s un-Canadian than not a single person tried under s. 13, in thirty years, has ever been acquitted.
It’s un-Canadian that 91% of the CHRC’s targets are so poor they can’t afford lawyers, and aren’t given one.
It’s un-Canadian that the CHRC goes online, posing as neo-Nazis, spewing racist venom, to entrap people in discussions that they then prosecute.
It’s un-Canadian that the CHRC has no ethics code, and has hacked a private citizen’s e-mail account in one of their neo-Nazi personas – which is why the CHRC is now under both RCMP and Privacy Commission investigation.
Anyone who believes in a spectrum of ideas should be furious with these kangaroo courts. And anyone whose job it is to defend the media should be very worried, too.
I hope Mr. Levant wasn't the only voice of reason.

Wells vs Levant - Canadians to Pay
Ezra Levant attacked by crazy Christian hater Rob Wells:
"It’s not Wells’s first time using the CHRC to prosecute his hatred for Christians. They’re a perfect fit for each other, Wells and the CHRC. Wells drives around town, uttering anti-Christian filth; the CHRC staff surf around the Internet, publishing racist and anti-gay filth. It’s surprising that the CHRC hasn’t hired Wells to be one of their online hatemongers – he could do what he loves, and get paid for it.
Wells is a favourite of the CHRC. He has used the CHRC to harass the Christian Heritage Party. And he was the complainant against Fr. Alphonse de Valk and Catholic Insight magazine, that drained them of $20,000 in legal fees. That complaint was dismissed by the CHRC when they started getting political heat over it, but Wells is now appealing that dismissal.
Between making little Catholic children cry at church and filing nuisance suits, where does the man find the time?
His complaint against me is rooted in my recent republication of Rev. Stephen Boissoin’s editorial column in the Red Deer Advocate several years ago. That was the column in which Rev. Boissoin expressed his Christian opposition to gay rights – and it resulted in a complaint filed against him at the Alberta HRC. After five grueling years of bureaucratic bullying, Rev. Boissoin was sentenced to a $7,000 fine, a lifetime ban against giving any public sermons that were “disparaging” to gay rights (he was also banned from sending private e-mails about the subject) and he was actually ordered to publicly renounce his religious beliefs on the subject. Seriously – read the sentence here for yourself if you can't believe it.
I republished Rev. Boissoin’s column in full, as a sign of my freedom and as an indication that I don’t grant the government the moral authority to tell me what I can or can’t say. I’m pleased to say that Canada’s leading gay lobby, EGALE, agrees exactly with my position. They know that Wells’s fascism is an embarrassment to their cause. And – more than an embarrassment – it endangers anyone who might be the target of an overweening state, like gays themselves were in the past..."

Good to know that the Canadian tax dollar is being used to the benefit of us all, so effectively. Again.

Ezra Left Holding The Bag (and it smells bad)
Lifesite News relates the final conclusion of the Alberta HRC...there was no basis for complaint, in the circumstances. Don't bother cheering. The inexcusable treatment of a journalist/editor for using his talent AS IF HE WERE IN A FREE COUNTRY, spending years of his valuable time and energy that may have benifitted the nation otherwise in never to be known ways, is not dealt with at all. They still believe they have the right to call him back on the carpet at any time, for any further 'questionable' behavior, and treat him the exact same way.
Its not over.
Its not over.

Canada - The Junior High Years

For those who don't know, I have eight children, 7 yr. to 24yr. Over the course of the last 24 years, I've known a few 11-14yr. old kids. Mercifully, because we homeschool, we have avoided quite a bit of the totally self-centered and obliviously obnoxious behavior of that demographic, not to mention the rather vicious attempts to 'win' against authority, and 'beat' rivals for popularity. (We have't missed all of it mind you, my kids didn't skip those years, but quite a bit.)
It occured to me last night, thinking about Canada's upcoming 'birthday', that at 141 years - Canada has reached Junior High.
Here's Ezra with his latest report card:"Who Died and Made Rob Wells Pope?".
How do you send the whole country to the Principal's office, and do they still do that? Can we 'homeschool' Canada, or are we doomed to follow the bad example of 'big brothers' like Sweden and France and Germany. Why is Canada such a slow learner? Why can't Canada be its own person, like the US, instead of following the 'crowd'.
When will Canada GROW UP!
Almost Good News, Kinda

Good coverage on the latest chapter of CHRC 'doings' at 'The World Tonight':
"..This is a perfectly logical conclusion, but I'm not prepared to concede that the Canadian Human Rights Commission reached this conclusion for the right reasons. Obviously, the BC Human Rights Tribunal went to far as to conduct a hearing on the Steyn piece (verdict still pending), and the Ontario Commission clearly wishes it could have - so are we really to believe the federal commission is simply that much more enlightened that its provincial counterparts?"
Links to the complainant, the defendant and commentary by Ezra Levant.

Meanwhile,Magic Statistics points out to the CHRC that Friday's Supreme Court decision clarifying the difference between 'fair' and 'fair comment' might cramp their style.
In other news, PM Stephen Harper won a Human Rights Award from the B'nai Brith! (I'm not sure how this is going to help..)
With Canada Day just around the corner, maybe Harper has a birthday present in mind?

About Time!

Apparantly some OTHER Canadian writers have realized that, in spite of how they might feel about Mark Steyn, Ezra Levant et al, and what they have to say, the HRC's are going to impact THEM ALSO! FINALLY!
PEN takes a stand here.

Alberta, Land of the Wuss

Ezra Levant lambastes the Alberta HRC:
"The Alberta human rights commission -- in other words, the Government of Alberta -- is trying to persuade newcomers to Alberta to support their grievance industry, and become little race hustlers, little Al Sharptons, just like Khurrum Awan of the Canadian Islamic Congress. It makes sense; complaints are down 15% year over year in Alberta; if all of those professional race hustlers in Ed Stelmach's government are going to keep their jobs, they need new complaints, and fast..."(h/t the black kettle)
I'm with Ezra...it just isn't as great to admit I was born there anymore! My grandfather was an ACTUAL pioneer, and he would have no more complained about bad manners to the gov't than he would expect them to pay him for not working!

Free-Speechers Unite !
Ezra Levant tells us about a STAND UP GUY, MP and Parliamentary Secretary to the President of the Treasury Board,Pierre Poilievre :
"I share your frustration with the way in which politically correct know-it-alls have decided what the rest of us can and cannot think. There is a private members bill before the House to put an end to this out-of-control insanity.
I plan to vote for it, [redacted]. If there is anything else I can do, let me know...
P.S. I will choose free speech over political correctness every time."

Live on C-PAC - Free Speech Debate

Ezra is SMOKIN' in this debate . The CHRC rep. is very much as expected - a poor excuse for a civil servant. Keith Martin is 'stand up'.
Well worth the time to listen to in entirety.
I would like every pseudo-intellectual UN supporting 'Bill of Rights' advocate in Cayman to LISTEN TO THIS. THIS IS WHERE WE ARE HEADED thanks to you!
(Would Mr. Levant like a vacation in Cayman? Perhaps with his 'buddy' Mark Steyn?)

CHRC Proceedings - Ezra Levant

Ezra Levant writes about Tuesday's 'hearing' at the CHRC:
"..Steacy did make a few embarrassing admissions. But the bulk of his answers -- just like the bulk of Warman's answers on cross examination last year -- were "I don't remember" or variants thereof. Some of the things he didn't remember were investigative actions he did mere weeks ago; some of them related to standing policies of the CHRC. No matter; he just brazened it out with forgetfulness.
Stop to think about how important the integrity of investigations is in real courts -- how the chain of custody of evidence is maintained under lock and key; how every test and inspection is documented; the extreme lengths police go to, to avoid giving the accused grounds for objecting to any evidence, including oral evidence like confessions. None of that integrity is present in the CHRC; Steacy, Warman and the others don't even bother keeping notes -- or, if they do, they simply "forgot" to disclose them, like Goldberg forgot to disclose 300 pages until after his court appearance..."
