Update From Halifax - 40 Days For Life

Margo blogs :
"Lord, may our prayers and fasting this day help to bring an end to abortion.

While we were away from the site, several people wrote on the side walk with chalk and spray paint.

One picture shows "I love abortion."

The other reads "Dear anti-choice protestors, while you were gone, we all snuck in and got abortions. They were great. Cheers."

One of our Project Rachel women has commented to our support group: When a woman chooses to have an abortion it is not like choosing a flavor of ice cream, she does so out of desparation like an animal caught in a trap who will even chew off it's foot to get free.

So these comments that were 'posted' on the ground do not even make sense. Even a woman who was going in to have an abortion, if she saw this would shake her head in wonder. She knows how she is feeling -- cornered, abandoned, afraid, sad, unsure, desparate, coerced. There is no light-heartedness. Those are not emotions that indicate loving this procedure or enjoying the abortion. One of our PR women said "I screamed so loud to block out the sound of the suction machine." That does not sound like a cheery response to a nice procedure does it. The only part she might agree with is the sneaking in part -- hoping like heck not to meet anyone she knows.

Those who wrote the sidewalk words have not seen us in praying silently before about this life-destroying choice and may not be sure how to approach this prayer vigil thing. Dare we tell them that this type of comment is only going to elicit more prayers for them from us!!...
